CEFTRIAXONE is used in the treatment of serious gram-negative bacterial infections, including septicemia, bone and joint infection, female pelvic infections, intra-abdominal infections, gram-negative pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, burn wound infections and complicated urinary tract infections caused by susceptible organisms. It is used for treatment of meningitis in both children and adults.
Single dose has been found to be effective in the treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea; and the later stages of Lyme disease.
